I wanted to do a quick follow-up to my previous blog “10 BEST WEBSITE BUILDERS FOR AGENCIES AND CREATIVES” that was geared totally for designers and other visually creative folks.
If you’re like me, you’re probably really busy working on client projects or passion projects of your own. It’s hard to complain about being busy but this often comes with various aspects of your personal brand or freelance business being neglected – like your website.
Website builders are a great way to get a nice fancy site without all the stress of building something from scratch.
If you don’t have time to create a custom website, here are some solutions that just might work for you. I’ve also provided some questions to use as a way to validate the best solution for your needs.
Important Feature questions
- How much does it cost?
- Are there additional hosting fees?
- How does the portfolio functionality work?
- What type of media can I upload to my portfolio?
- Can I sell products?
- Is it SEO friendly?
- Do they have quality templates I like and can customize?
- Can I use my own domain?
- Can I blog?
- Is it responsive or mobile friendly?
- What 3rd party applications can I integrate?
- Can I view my website metrics and stats?
Summing it up
If you are a creative, I would suggest to first try to build something from scratch before you use a website builder. Especially if you’re a web designer or do most of your work on the web. It not only provides you a bit more credibility than using a website builder, you may also learn something while you build your site.
If this simply isn’t an option or if the simple mention of building a website makes you want to vomit then you should seriously consider a website builder like the ones here.
